How to Make Cute DIY Pumpkin Seed Poinsetta Ornaments
Save your pumpkin seeds at Halloween to make these gorgeous DIY Christmas tree ornaments! These DIY pumpkin seed poinsettias would also look beautiful on a wreath or garland.
Click HERE for a quick video re-cap!
1. Cut a circle of felt
Cut a circle (diameter approximately 2 inches) out of white felt. I'll share options below for making the red one.
2. Glue craft cord for the hanger
Use hot glue to apply the craft cord or some sort of string for hanging.
3. Glue the pumpkin seeds to the felt
Use hot glue to place dried pumpkin seeds along the outside edge of the felt. You want the pumpkin seed to be about half on the felt.
Tip: Make sure to fully dry your pumpkin seeds. I tried to air dry, but it wasn't enough and some went moldy. I recommend drying lightly in the oven.
Go all the way around and make sure to go over the top of the craft cord. Start your second row, overlapping the seeds about halfway.
Repeat pattern until it looks like this. Leave a small opening in the centre for the middle part.
Don't forget to remove all your hot glue hairs!
3. Paint wood beads
Place 3 small wood beads on a pin for easy painting. You can use anything this size; peppercorns work well too and you don't even have to paint them.
Paint red, if desired. Let dry.
4. Glue the beads to the center
Using hot glue, secure the three beads to the center.
You could paint the seeds white, but I love the natural color of the seeds!
The next photos show how I made a red one.
5. Paint red (optional)
Use red felt and red craft cord for hanging. Glue pumpkin seeds in the same way as above.
Paint pumpkin seeds red with acrylic craft paint. I did two coats.
Paint the back too!
I love how it looks tidy from the back too.
For the inside I used the same wood paints, not painted.

I loved your poinsettia’s. I’m in the process of making some right now. thank you. yours are beautiful.
I made this last summer out of some acorn squash seeds. They are smaller than pumpkin seeds. I used some celery seeds for the center and then I painted them. I made a magnet out of it to put on my refrigerator.
thank you for your wonderful idea. Stay safe and have a good day.
