How to Make New Wood Look Old

I love finding old wood that has lots of character but what if you cannot find an old piece of wood for the project you are working on? How about you create your own? Here is the process I used to make new wood look older:
When buying a piece of wood, try finding something with lots of character already: knots, color variation, dents. After place it on a flat surface and using anything you have on hand to dent the board up. You can find the tools I used on my blog plus what they look like after.
Next stain the board with your favorite stain.
Here is my wood that I used for my pendant lights in my kitchen.
