A used drop-cloth headed for the trash has been given a new purpose and turned into a beautiful work of art and it's easier to do than you might think! #WallCandy
I was feeling very crafty one afternoon recently and found a drop cloth that was slated for the trash in the garage. It had been used for a variety of projects and had some rips on the ends and lots of stains.
Drop cloths are canvas, and I was inspired to creating a painting. I remembered this wood frame that has been in the storage shed for a couple of years. It was originally in a large carton of an appliance box to hold the appliance in place.
I trimmed the drop cloth to size, cutting off any damaged areas on the ends. Next step was to attach the cloth to the frame. For full instructions on how I did this you'll find more on the blog post linked below.
After sealing the canvas I painted in layers with several coats of various paints allowing to dry in-between. Using only what I had on hand is very satisfying and if you keep a few staple items in your craft bins you'll be surprised at the projects that you can accomplish!
The end result was this large painting that was inspired by a photo that I had taken while on the beach. For more of the techniques and items that you will need, please visit my blog post below.

Beautiful!! I paint smaller seascapes and I really want to do a large piece like this for the living room, but have been putting it off because I've never worked that large before.
