A DIY'd Dining Room! 7 DIY Projects

DIY projects for your dining room!
When I was sitting in the dining room, at our most recent (almost finished) DIY dining table I suddenly realized pretty much everything in the room from the floor to the ceiling was a do-it-yourself project!

I made a "vintage" classroom map from one of my grandfathers old Mariners maps using dowels and a piece of string.
Actually the room itself used to be a tiny bedroom off the living room. We opened up the wall to create the dining room.

The ceiling was a really ugly tile and we simply applied bead board wallpaper to create the look of a bead board ceiling.

The curtains are no-sew drop cloth panels.

The chalkboard was made out of an old cupboard door and the photo's are ones we took on our trips to PEI.
Since the room measures only 8 feet by 10 feet, there is not a lot of room for a large hutch, but storage is a must. We built this open "buffet" table for both storage and a serving table.
The floors are do-it-yourself plywood plank floors, stained and treated with several coats of varathane. Two years later they are holding up beautifully!
I dug out a picture of what the room looked like before! I can hardly believe all the difference!
