My First Chalk Paint Project

Took a buffet/server (name brand: Bernhardt; quality piece) and cleaned it up to find it was rather beat up - but structurally sound ... So decided to paint it instead.
Now the goal is to help it find a great place to land & be loved.
Set up in a booth; want to sell
Cleaned it really well!
Details....
Painted it, carefully deliberating over single color or with accents... You can see my final decision...

Overall the color is a creamy greige color (the base is a slightly warm gray, but antiquing yielded a richer version of it). It has a heavily mottled finish, both in tone and texture. I received lots of positive feedback about it at an outdoor festival from other furniture painters and shopping enthusiasts as well.
Before & After images
Here are some direct before & after details....

Misc close ups
Front face
Painted bronze accents, framing top drawers, first.
Top & Drawer detail
Painted drawers this raspberry tone. I am considering changing the color of the drawers back to the more neutral tone or the surrounding color (bronze).

Final steps were: a thorough antique and then clear wax finish was applied and buffed to a lovely finish.
Suggested materials:
  • Chalk paint   (I made it! (PofP homemade recipe))

What did you clean it with before painting? I am a newbie & I am about to start some projects like this when I retire in a few months.

Beautiful! Very striking! If you plan to change the drawer color, maybe a lighter shade of the bronze! Would bring out the drawers and not take away from the details of the surrounding face frame.

@Janet I do the same! Over thirty years of woodworking I should know better, but excitement over the finished product....well.
