DIY Chandelier Makeover
A $5 bronze chandelier gets a shabby chic makeover!
When we first updated our dining room almost two years ago, we simply did not have the budget to purchase the 'dream' chandelier that I envisioned in the room.
So I spray painted the existing light fixture-added a little bling and tolerated it, until I could find something 'budget-friendly' to replace it with.
That day FINALLY came several weeks ago, when I came upon this dusty old bronze chandy at a yard sale. It was exactly what I was looking for, but I saw potential, and at $5 it was definitely a steal.
I wanted the chandy to have a distressed look-and the first step in getting that was to give the entire fixture a coat of black spray paint. I chose flat because I didn't want any sheen. I allowed the fixture to dry, (overnight), and gave it a good sanding with fine grit sandpaper.
