This is the oxalis blooming and pansies in my yard in the early "spring" of this year. I have always had this as a border plant in my flower-beds, but last year due to the drought and restricted water conditions, we needed to adjust to the drought conditions. We put in a soaker hoses to water the flower beds wih a timer in the front yard and a drip system in the back also on a timer. . In the meantime we got a little more rain and this was the results and conserved water too. Drip systems work and save water!!

Linda Harrison on Jul 13, 2013Sorry, I do not know what "variety" of oxalis it is. (It was here in one bed when we bought the house over 40 yrs ago, I have transplanted through the years.) I do know that there is also one that is more "weed-like". (It is yellow and kind of scraggly looking compared to the lavender one I have.) I have given friends and family lots of starts of it through the years. I makes a great border plant in the from of flowerbeds. Love Washington State!! It is beautiful there!! We have to do the best we can with what will grow out here in the desert!! This has been a good one in my yard through the years! Thanks for the comments!!
