Make Your Own Mousepad!

5 Materials
Easy
After having an optical mouse sitting in a drawer for months, I stumbled across it and realized I needed a mouse pad.. so I went hunting for supplies around my house! This is a fun project, even for your kids to make :)
I didn't buy anything new for this project.. just found a piece of corrugated cardboard, leftover fabric from another project, and an old piece of shelf liner from an unused top shelf - all that I cut to about 7"x7" (the fabric I cut about an inch larger to allow room to trim to fit once nearly complete)
Spread a thin, even layer of Craft Wood Glue out to edges of one side of your cardboard, using foam brush.
Affix the shelf liner to the glue, press down all over and allow to dry (I allowed this step to dry while I did the next step, actually)
Repeat the glue step on the other side, laying a slightly thicker layer for your fabric side. Be sure to choose a fabric like cotton, thin fleece or felt, something not too slick or slippery.
Adhere your fabric, smoothing out any bumps as you go. You'll have a border of extra fabric in this step, to allow you to trim to the edge once dry.
Trim your excess edges of fabric off, once dry.
Here's a bottom view, once complete. You'll have a grippy bottom, like any store-bought mouse pad and you can customize the fabric of your fun mouse pad to match any room or theme you choose ;)

It works fantastically and I haven't stopped using mine since making!
Suggested materials:

If I were to use those fabric paints that come in little sqeeze bottles (I think they're typically used for decorating t-shirts & tote bags) do you think it would affect how my optical mouse performed on it?
