Turning a Vintage Dresser Into a TV Stand

2 Materials
There are a lot of great vintage dressers kicking around and this one with a broken drawer was a perfect piece to turn into a TV stand.
This beautiful, vintage dresser came with our cottage when it was purchased almost 40 years ago! The dresser itself is much older than that though and I have always loved it. It has such pretty lines, is just the right size and still has its original wooden wheels.
Even though I love it’s beauty, it was getting quite beaten up. It's hardware had been replaced at some point and didn't match the time period of the piece and it was in desperate need of some new paint.

We really didn't need it as a dresser any longer so I decided to turn it into a stand for the TV. Not only was it the perfect height and size for the TV, the drawers would provide excellent storage for games or DVDs.
One of the drawers had been broken at some point, so I salvaged the two good ones and made the extra opening into a shelf.
I had a thin piece of wood cut to fit snuggly inside of the opening and then glued it into place to create the new shelf. The supports from the missing drawer provided the perfect ledge to place the shelf on so no other "construction" needed to happen.
Once the new shelf was in place, I gave it all two coats of Country Chic Paint in Simplicity. The freshness and beauty of Simplicity was just what the dresser turned TV stand needed. It looks so crisp and clean now.
To finish off the new design, I added some wrought iron drawer pulls.
It is now the ideal place for the TV while preserving the beauty of the piece.
