Antique Frame Fall Wreath

4 Materials
I love the colours of Falls in Canada! What a gorgeous time of year and the perfect time to bring those beautiful colours inside. Using an antique frame, some burlap ribbon and a little fall foliage, I did just that.
I have had this antique, wooden frame kicking around for a while just waiting for its turn to be used. It's time finally rolled around last week when I wanted to make a Fall wreath as it was exactly what I needed for the background of the foliage.
To get the frame ready, I painted it in a beautiful, deep, red Annie Sloan Chalk Paint called Emperor's Silk.

Once the frame was painted with one coat of Chalk paint, I lightly distressed it to show the gorgeous details and then gave it a coat of Annie Sloan Dark Wax to enhance the colour.
To make the wreath look perfect for Fall, I added some foliage in lovely Fall hues along with some berries and a pinecone.

All of the foliage and berries were held together with floral tape. To cover the floral tape and add a little dimension, the end of the arrangement was then wrapped with burlap ribbon.
In order to be able to hang the wreath, I attached a wider piece of burlap ribbon. A slit was cut in the ribbon near the frame top to attach the arrangement of foliage.

The foliage was then slipped through the slit. I used a few dabs of hot glue to hold it in place.
The antique frame fall wreath turned out even better than I could have hoped! I am completely in love with the abnormal shape that the beautiful frame adds to it. Happy Fall!
