Faux pumpkins are great, especially if you live somewhere that stays warm until late fall because they can be put out as early as you want and still stay fresh as a daisy!
Today I'm going to show you how to white wash a faux pumpkin to give it that lime look!
Today I'm going to show you how to white wash a faux pumpkin to give it that lime look!
You will need a faux pumpkin in the size of your choice, white acrylic paint, chip brush, cheesecloth or soft rag and some water.
Begin by watering down your white paint to make a wash. It's about a ratio of 1 part paint to 2 parts water. This is for sure not exact science!
Paint the pumpkin with the white wash going up and down only.
When the pumpkin is fully painted use the cheesecloth to rub some of the wash off by going up and down lightly on the pumpkin. If you feel like you have removed too much you can always add more paint.
Don't forget to do the bottom of the pumpkin and around the stem!
Allow your pumpkin to dry. It will become more subtle as it dries. If you want to take more paint off you can wet your cheesecloth and rub down the pumpkin. This will reactivate the paint and pull a little more off as you rub.
Now all that is left is to add it to your favorite fall decorations, like this DIY Wheelbarrow Pumpkin Planter. Click Here for the Wheelbarrow tutorial.
