Paint Furniture Using a HVLP Spray Gun Video

Painting furniture is something a lot of people have started doing as a hobby or just as way to update an old piece of furniture and make it fit into their current decor. I used to brush paint onto furniture but nothing comes close to the finish that can be achieved by spraying on finishes. For almost 2 years I have been spraying pieces using an HVLP spray gun and have a video to show how easy it can be and some tips for those who want to try it out.

First tip is to find a good distance. Don't point the gun too close or too much paint can get on the surface and cause drips. You also don't want it too far. Somewhere between 6-12" is usually good depending on the tool you are using, the finish you are spraying, and the settings on your gun.
See the finishes photos of this teal table here.
Change the spray pattern of you gun by turning the nozzle. Normally I use a horizontal spray pattern when painting vertical surfaces and a vertical spray pattern when painting horizontal surfaces. For larger pieces like dressers I prefer to lay them on sawhorses (lay on their backs) so that I can easily access the sides and top without having to reach.
Finally, wear the correct protective gear. A respirator is a must! You don't want to be breathing in any fumes or particles. Also change the cartridges and filters as recommend by the manufacturer.
