A while back we replaced our old foam mattress so I cut up the old one to make some dog beds.
l tried a few different covers for the beds but they didn't hold up very well or look very good. So l decided to try something a little different.

If you have seen some of my other posts you know the pups have been keeping me busy with repair projects and this project is no exception . Thanks to their continued efforts of destruction. l had this pink sheet available for crafting.
I also had some leftover gray house paint. Now you might think that those two things don't go together but I only have one rule in Upcycling and that is to use unwanted, damaged or otherwise unusable items for a new or improved purpose. Which means that bed sheets and house paint are the perfect supplies to make new dog bed covers.
Using up old stuff is actually one of my favorite things about Upcycling. When I am working with stuff that are already damaged, it takes a lot of the pressure away because it is no big deal if the experiment doesn't work.
You may still think that bed sheets and house paint is a curious combination for making dog bed covers. But l am actually very happy with how the bed covers turned out. The paint makes the sheet a little bit sturdier and also helps to repel the pet hair so the beds stay cleaner.

These covers are quite simple to make and the best part is there is no sewing required. You can see the whole process in this short and silly video.
