If you get a live tree for the holidays, gather up those Christmas tree clippings and use them in your holiday decor. Check out my favorite way to use these Free pine branches.
Whether you are cutting down the tree yourself (a fave family tradition for us) or getting a live one from a Christmas tree lot, be on the hunt for the tree clippings. Often you can literally find them lying on the ground. Or ask for the ones that get trimmed off the bottom of the cut trees. I am always able to come away with an arm full! You will want to be sure to have a good pair of pruning shears to clip the branches to the sizes you need.
Then I use them all over my house in my holiday decorations. One of my favorites is to use them in my front porch planters. I clean out the plant material from the summer/fall. Then I place a garden gazing ball in the center. (these were a birthday gift from my mom and I love using them this way). I cut the branches to fit, and then tuck the ends under the lip of the planter.
I just love the simple, yet festive finished look. The gazing balls end up looking like ornaments! And it's an easy yet impactful first impression when you arrive at the house. I often get compliments on them!
