Upcycled Candle Holder to Photo/Quote Stand
We’ve found yet another wonderful way to upcycle candle stick holders! This time we used a glass one. FULL POST WITH FREE QUOTE DOWNLOAD HERE
SUPPLIES ⚫Candle Stick Holder (Brass and glass ones such as ours can also be found at thrift stores and dollar stores.) ⚫Primer Spray Paint (This might be optional but since I was painting glass and I had some, I used it.) ⚫Gold Paint I used Martha Stewart’s Metallic Gold as it has a true gold look. ⚫White Paint ⚫E600 Glue or glue of choice ⚫Bobby Pins, 2″ size ⚫Wire Cutter ⚫Round Wood Ball with Flat Surface to fit your dowel. ⚫Dowel 3/4″ Average NOTE: This can vary with your holder and some can hold a variety of sizes of dowels. I chose a 3/4″ size for mine but I could have gone larger or smaller.
Prime if desired then paint your candle stick holder.
Paint the dowel and ball.
Place a glue in the bottom but not too much as you don't want it to seep up when you place the dowel down in.
Set your dowel down into the candle holder. Fine a way to balance it while it dries. Mine stood fairly straight though I had to keep checking it and balancing it now and then to make sure it dried perfectly straight.
You need one good old regular 2" bobby pin.
You're going to clip off part of it using wire cutters.
Clip it off as shown.
Use a small amount of glue.
Glue it to your dowel as shown. Once its dried paint it gold to match being careful not to let the paint seep beneath it or it will seal it shut.
