DIY Over-Size Farmhouse Signs...with Amazing FREE Printables!

I know it can be disheartening when budget restraints seem to push the items you love out of hand's reach.

Such was the case with some of the beautiful large-scale quote art I had been coveting on Pinterest.

With a price-tag in the hefty mid-hundreds (yikes!) surely there HAD to be a more cost-effective DIY alternative that ALL of us could enjoy?

Turns out, there certainly was!

I've summmarised this article slightly for Home Talk however you can find the complete post here on my blog.

To begin, I used a mainstream image editing program to design a series of eight high-resolution, large-scale book page quotes.

You can now download my entire set of printables for completely FREE from my blog (see link at the end of this post). Yay!

I've created each of these digital signs to fit within standard large poster frames (60cm x 90cm/24″ x 36″) to make this project easier than ever!

Affordable standard large poster frames can be found in loads of places, from dollar stores to discount department stores and even Ikea!

I used a $15 frame I found at a local discount store.

The faux wood laminate was a little too perfect for my liking so I gave it a farmhouse makeover using a serrated knife, some nails and a dash of oak stain.

Of course, if you're feeling extra thrifty, or simply want that "hand-made" look, you can DIY your own easy frame using a sheet of plywood for the backing and basic edging trim for the frame (again, see my blog post for the how-to).

Printing the signs is a cinch. Simply visit your local print and copy center or use an online upload service.

Basic engineering prints can be produced for as little as $1 whereas luxury canvas prints might cost up to $100. I went with a standard colour poster print for just $25.

To frame my artwork I simply removed the glass and used some spray adhesive to attach the print directly to the backing board.

Although I love the simplicity of the Dr Seuss quote I chose to frame, the 'Cherokee Legend' on chalkboard is one of my favourites!

I'll be offering another set of free printable book page quote signs next month so be sure to let me know what your favourite quote is (in the comments here or over on my blog). I'll choose four to share in April!

I hope this project helps inspire!
