Easiest Valances EVER!!

I used to like to sew, not so much anymore, I still enjoy sewing when it is something that is creative (like a friend’s wedding dress) or saves me money, and otherwise I find it tedious. (Sorry avid sewers!)

I bought some valances for my kitchen windows, but hey were adequate at best; I really didn’t “like” them.

I was resigning myself to sewing 4 window sized valances and 1 patio door sized valance.

And then I saw some cutwork table runners for $4. each, and I was inspired!

All I needed was my iron ( I was upstairs not in my art room so I used  my travel iron) and some pins.

This thing is long! 250 cms or 98.5 inches!

They had these tassels at the end.

Easily removed.

Then I ironed them all.

I folded over the point and pinned it in the embroidered part of the runner. The pin does not show at all from the other side.  ( should have taken a photo!)

I Ironed the fold, with steam so it would stay put.

Threaded my rod through the cut outs.

Put the decorative end on the rod and hung them up.

Over the sink. - 2 panels ( 2 runners)

Here they are, over the patio doors and 2 other windows.

I love them, my hubby loves them and they were really inexpensive!

In the back ground over the back of the chair, you can see that I also bought placemats (8 for $4.00) and a table cloth ( $10.)

Total cost to me as I already had rods up and had the pins: 6 runners for $24.00

and then, if you know me, I just had to paint a pot to match!
And then, I painted a pot to match... LOL

Beautiful application of the table runners. You said yours was 90 inches, 250 cm, it is interesting that the 2 or 3 offerings on Ebay are all more like 46 inches, though the shape is the same. You didn't piece yours as far as I can tell...yes, no?

GREAT idea! This will be perfect for what I have in mind. But I don't understand what the folded over corners are all about? What is the purpose of doing that, please?

Love what you did with the runners. I don’t see so this will help me out a lot. I have a bay window in my kitchen that this will work great for. Thanks for sharing.
