Simple Rustic Headboard Bench Tutorial

We have 9 garden beds in our yard. Our goal was to put a structure piece in each garden. I thought it would be fun to try our hand at a headboard bench I had seen on Pinterest. It’s a simple, rustic bench. It literally took 60 min. to cut, build and paint and it was under $10.00, my favorite kind of project.
Does this bench look like it was made from a headboard?
Not only was it made from a headboard but it was made from this ugly headboard. I bought the headboard at Salvation Army for $11.25 and SCORE it was 50% off that day so I got it for $5.13
My husband built a seat and legs for the bench from wood that was leftover from a different project. He then attached the headboard to the seat and legs using Liquid nails first and then screwed it.
Here is the finished headboard bench sitting in our garden. It adds so much character to the garden space. You can find a complete tutorial on my site so that you can make this bench yourself. Start keeping your eye open for a cheap headboard so you can make your own!

This is super cute! I've just decided to whittle a corner of our small backyard to add a bench and wanted to try up cycling an old headboard! Love it!
