Using Rust Inhibitor Paint on Wood

My friend asked me to update an ornate gold mirror and make it silver. I don't have an indoor space to spray paint it and it was too cold to do it outside so I checked out metallic paints at Home Depot. I spotted the small cans of TremClad paint for metal and for less than $5 I decided to give Aluminum it a try.
I am so happy I did! It covered beautifully in one coat! I can't wait to try it on some other things.
This mirror was very pretty but too ornate for my friend's taste.
Not being able to spray paint the mirror frame, I decided to brush on a rust paint.
Tremclad and a brush worked BETTER THAN SPRAY and without the mess!

I did the same but spray painted it at a friend's in the summer. Now that it is winter I'm itching to do more and Tremclad will be mine new best friend. Wonderful! Now it's time to get working on that dresser...

I'm a bit scared of spray paint (we don't have open space to do it in) so it's good to hear about alternatives that work well!
