Give your guests a warm welcome at your door with this custom personalized DIY door mat. Be prepared to make more! Your friends will all want one. And, it's easy enough that you can make one for every season! Use as many or as few colors as you want to match your style.
Use painter's tape to make stripes across a plain door mat. I placed the tape randomly, but you can use a ruler if you want.
Paint inside the taped lines with colors of your choice using a stiff brush. I used Dixie Belle Mineral Chalk Paint.
Once each stripe is filled in, remove the tape. Allow the paint to dry before moving on to the next step.
Trace around a plate with a piece of chalk to create a circle in the center of the mat. Fill in the circle with paint.
Use a stencil to add an initial or other design inside the circle. Add the paint using a pouncing motion over the stencil. You may want to tape the stencil down to keep it from shifting while you pounce.
Place your beautiful mat at your door and wow your friends and family with your creativity.
