DIY Galvanized Looking Table Top!

We had a nice sturdy table but didn't like the color of the stain on the top. I chose to paint it to look like galvanized metal! We love it now and even if it gets a scratch or two, it just adds to the look.
We already had a table that was in good condition and sturdy. We actually got it from Haverty's but the top was a bit too red for my liking so I decided to brighten it up. Buying a sheet of galvanized metal would be more than I wanted to spend and attaching it to the table top seemed like a daunting task. So I chose to paint it instead.
First clean and tape off what you don't want to paint. I also taped plastic sheeting around it so the flying paint wouldn't attach itself to the legs. The table looked like it had a skirt. Now start spraying it in a circular motion. This took almost 2 full cans of silver spray paint to cover the top. Then I used FAT PAINT (with a brush) in a bluish gray color for the galvanized look.
Sanding it and adding some "character" scratches, made it come out looking just like galvanized metal. Check out the blog post for step by step instructions! It's a low cost, low effort, quick and easy change!
I also have a short DIY on the chair makeovers. The chair seats are gold and not a farmhouse look for sure. I recovered them with a Painters Drop Cloth! The same blog post has how I changed the color and made the drop cloth more pliable. We love the new look!
