Even if you don’t have a craft/vinyl cutter you can still create beautiful lettered signs for your home. This trendy scroll sign made on brown kraft paper is a great statement piece you can change out for each season or leave up year round, depending on the saying design you select.

Let’s start with supplies for this crafty project:
-kraft paper roll (cut about 24" longer than your graphics)
- sharpies (recommend a variety of sizes from ultra fine to chisel tip)
- twine or rope to hang your sign
- small disc magnet or hot glue
- sidewalk chalk
- pencil
- printed graphics to fit your sign size

Prepare your graphics for your sign. I recommend ordering black and white engineer prints from your local office supply store. Typically they run about $2 each and fill up the brown kraft paper rolls nicely.
Flip over your sign graphics and cover the entire backside with sidewalk chalk.
Once the back is covered with chalk, flip your graphics back over, and place in the center of the kraft paper. Leaving 12" and top and 12" at the bottom. Secure your print into place lightly with tape.
The next party can be a bit tedious but it's worth the effort - stick with me!
Using a pencil outline all your graphics/images. You want to press pretty hard but should not break the through the paper.
I suggest doing 1 letter then peeking under your paper to make sure you can see a clear outline of that letter in chalk on the brown kraft paper.
This is what it should look like when all your tracing is complete and you remove the graphics print out.
Now you're ready to fill in all those letters. I suggest having a couple different width on hand of the black Sharpie markers for this project.
Depending on the width of each element you may want to start by outline with a fine, or ultra fine tip marker then fill in center of words and letters with the chisel tip Sharpie.
Using the excess brown paper above and below your graphics, roll over to create a tube along the top and bottom, giving it a scroll look. Secure the top and bottom tubes in place with hot glue.
Feed the jute or twine you will be hanging your sign from through the top roll you created with paper. Then you can tie off, making a triangle to hand your sign on the wall.
Do a happy dance because you created something pretty darn cute! Can you imagine this with your favorite quote, or personalized for an event? Such a cheap and easy way to make a BIG impact.
