If you are trying to get organized this year, chances are you are looking to set up a home office, or make the home office that you have more organized. Well, if this home office makeover doesn't give you some solid inspiration, I don't know what will. This beautiful New England-inspired office is definitely something to take a look at, before and after.
This is the before, a small room with a big drum set. With the kids grown and at college, mom needed her space more than the kids needed a music room.
This closet is just begging for some organizing.
A great way to zero in on purchases before you buy is to create a design board with samples. Paint, flooring, upholstery and curtains can all be sampled at most stores.
In this case, the curtains and the desk ultimately set the inspiration and tone for the whole room.
Next came this FABULOUS teal velvet desk chair. Who knew a desk chair could be both comfortable and beautiful?
Every good redesign and makeover has something old along with the new. This secretary has been in the house for a while, and it still provides both storage and display space in the updated office.
Even though we weren't quite done yet, the dog has already moved in. Very important to get the dog's approval.
We wanted cozy but executive, serious but pretty. I think we kind of nailed it. The new desk and guest chair are workhorses.
Remember the closet? That is really the hub of this home office. It's such a reward to be able to close these closet doors at night and unplug from work.

This is a project that I did for one of my clients, and I've been back in the space several times since we finished. It never fails, if you get the design right, it's easier to keep it organized. This space always looks like this when I visit, and she's not cleaning up for me. If you had a home office this beautiful, what could you get done???
