EASY Way to Save BASIL Seeds

Today we're getting rid of this lemon basil. But before we throw it out, we can save the seeds. Its been flowering and putting out seedpods. They're all dried up now so its the perfect time for saving the seeds.

Cut off everything that is brown- all the seed pods.

They'll look something like this, and put it in a strainer.

And, I have a bowl to collect the seeds.
Just cut off every seed pod.

And collect in the strainer.

Mesh it up with our hands. You can also use a rock to mash it up. Start crushing it. You'll see seeds dropping already!
Then take off all the stems. Because they would just get in the way.
I used the back of a screwdriver to grind the seedpods into the strainer. The seeds will be what is left in the bowl. ( the pods will be in the strainer)

Get another bowl and strain it a couple more times to get out most of the see pods husks that are left.

Now, outside in the summertime- just gently blow on the seeds and all the husks will just fly away because its lighter than the seeds.
You can also use a vacuum cleaner ( if you're doing it inside)
Now you have almost pure seeds.

I use a piece of paper as a funnel to avoid spilling as I transfer them into a ziplock bag
Not bad for 10 minutes of work! Now you have a brand new bag of seeds!
