I think we can file this among the most crazy projects I've ever done. You see, I was in a 'challenge' and I was facing a deadline and I had to figure out what to do with a piece of plywood and metallic paint. Well, wouldn't you know, I clamped that plywood to my Work-mate and after about an hour (plus dry time) I had myself a gigantic metallic letter to hang on the wall of our family room!
The first thing I did was draft an outline of my letter using a smaller craft sized letter for scale. This was NOT a perfect DIY moment. I used a pencil and an eraser and it took quite a few tries to get it looking even.
Then I clamped and clamped my plywood to my work table. I had to keep readjusting every few cuts because the piece was so large and you really need it to be tight and secure while you're cutting. I used a basic jigsaw and slowly cut out the outline of the B.
The last step was to make it look 'not like wood' - because the challenge was to use plywood and METALLIC paint. So I took my B outside and spray painted it with high sheen metallic silver spray paint. But then I found it looked TOO shiny. So I dulled it down with a rag and some dark brown furniture glaze. It ended up looking galvanized!
Check out this other project I did where I actually made Metal Look Galvanized and this one where I created amazing decor from TWO SIMPLE ITEMS!
