Pressed Tin Tiles are all the rage right now. Pottery Barn jumped on the bandwagon with this amazing trio of vintage-look tiles and I fell in love. I immediately knew what I wanted to do with them, but the price tag for the project I had in mind was not quite as lovely. So, I copied this distressed faux tin tile look and took my drab, poorly patched popcorn ceiling to a fabulous pressed tin look with a few rolls of wallpaper! Easy, quick and frugal - win, win, win!
This picture shows the original inspiration for my ceiling project. Pottery Barn's tin tile wall decor pieces are amazingly detailed and unique. They make wonderful statement pieces.
Aren't they just lovely? I knew the look I wanted for my family room ceiling, but I wasn't quite sure how to get it until I came across these rolls of wallpaper.
After a few hours of trial and error, I found that the simplest (and easiest on my back) plan of action was to cut each individual square on the roll using a pair of clean, sharp scissors beforehand. Because the paper is peel & stick, there was no messy glue or water to contend with. Using a ladder, I started in the far left corner and worked my way out lining up and piecing the tiles together one by one.
From the very start of applying the wallpaper, I knew this was exactly the look I had been wanting for my family room!
I feel that the textured popcorn ceiling underneath makes the distressed faux tin tile look even more realistic!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!! Was the sticky stuff on the back strong enough to stick and hold on the popcorn ceiling? I'm a little concerned how the glue will "grip" the popcorn texture on my ceiling. I want to do this!!!
Do you think this would hold up in a bathroom?
Where can I find the peel and stick wallpaper?
