I've slowly been repainting/updating all the furniture in my bedroom with chalk paint, so they all match. This is one of many projects in the room I'll be sharing with you. I love the color blue & mixed my own paint from some old stuff I had laying around. I also added a stencil design with some texture medium for a lovely effect.
Here is the original chest- old, dusty & in need of a good cleaning. It had some weird residue on top that I had to remove before I could paint it.
The old hardware- I chalk painted this as well.
Here it is all painted- gotta love that color!
I used a flat black chalk paint for the handle
I used a rose stencil, with black chalk paint & texture medium to achieve the raised effect you see here.
I did the same stencil on each end of the piece.
This one didn't fare as well, texture wise, but it is there, as far as paint color. sadly I couldn't get a decent photo, no matter what angle I took, due to the colors.
The same with this one- the light & the angles were just off. The texture didn't come out as well as I'd like, but it still looks pretty to me.
Here is the finished project.

Looks good. Almost an iridescent sheen. The stencils are subtle, not overpowering, and in your face. Very nice.
