DO you have boring old wood top glass canisters? DO you want to add some fun to your kitchen? Here is how I updated my set to a farmhouse style set, more details at the full blog post listed at the bottom, also check out the bread box project posted here too ;)

The set is shown below lower left corner, boring light oak wood tops. With the use of milk paint, a stencil and dark waxes I added some style to them perfect for the modern kitchen with a farmhouse twist.

The tops were painted two coats of miss mustard seed milk paint in marzipan color, a warm white. To add uniqueness and whimsy I stenciled the center of a mandala in coal black paint from fusion mineral paint.

I dry brushed homestead House milk paint in a soft grey called confederate grey over the tops then sanded them with a sanding sponge to distress the edges.

To seal all the milk paint, stencil, distressed edges I went over it all with a clear wax then added Fusion;s black wax to the edges to give it depth and detail. I think this set is now ready to be shown off in any kitchen. The colors are neutral yet perfect for that farmhouse feel.
