My friend Lynn made a puff ball rug for her grand daughter. She wanted one to match the colors in her quilt. I am working on one too, but she finished hers first and let me post it.
First she found four or five colors to make the puff balls that would match her grand daughter's quilt that was also home made.
She wound the yard around the mechanical tool made to help make puff balls. When I make them I wind the yard around my hand or a piece of cardboard. The mechanical tools make it much easier. You can get them at Joann Fabrics and maybe other department stores too.
Here she ties the string around the fabric in the puff ball tool.
Here she winds the yarn then clips it and ties it.
This shows partially clipped.
Then tying it off. The same thread for tying it off will be used to anchor it to the net.
Tying them to the net with various colors and combination of some of the colors to use up the yarn ends of the same color.
Nearly finished. What a bright, cheerful puffy rug!
Here's the final little rug to go by her bed. Won't that be a darling sight by her matching quilt? We could not show them together because they are gifts and they have not given them to her yet.

This is adorable! Hopefully you will post the quilt on the bed with the rug on the floor.
