Make a Star Jar With Solar String Lights
You only need two supplies to make this outdoor light project for your backyard or front porch. It's the perfect solar light or lantern for your summer evenings. Or charge it up outside during the day and bring inside at night for some great ambiance. All you need is a string of solar string lights and a glass jar with a cork lid. I think are called fairy lights because they are the miniature bulbs on copper wire. The glass jar with cork lid I found at Target for $5. They were labeling it as a terrarium.
Here's the solar string lights I found on amazon. I've had mine for about a year now and they are still going strong.
Here's the glass jar I found at Target for $5! The cork lid is essential for this project to be an easy one. With the cork lid there is no cutting of the lid necessary.
Fluff up your string lights so they aren't in a matted clump, and stuff them inside the jar! Don't put the solar panel in the jar, though.
Leave the solar panel hanging outside the jar and then press the cork lid onto the jar, over the wire. The cork should be soft enough to conform around the wire and still seal the glass jar. Set the solar panel on top of the cork lid to collect some sun energy. Charge 'er up!
Use it as a pretty centerpiece when you're eating dinner outside, BBQ-ing, or entertaining friends. Or set a few on the edges of your front porch steps.
