DIY Church Pew Makeover
We have been remodeling our farmhouse living room for a little over a year now. The makeover had never really felt complete so we looked in flea markets and thrift shops for inspiration.
Finally, we found this broken, old church pew online that was missing a leg and I knew that's what we needed for our farmhouse makeover.
This church pew was old, dusty, and was missing a leg when we purchased it from a local seller.
The seller gave us a replacement leg but it was not for the right side! We added epoxy to the groove on the wrong side so it would be smooth to paint over. Then we added another groove to the other side to attach to the church pew.
We painted the church pew using 5 different techniques. 1) Spray paint a white base layer 2) Valspar crackle glaze was brushed on after the spray paint was completed dried 3) Painted a coat of Finish All Heritage Paint in Bluegrass using a paint roller 4) Added a stencil using my Silhouette Cameo and Waverly Ink Chalk Paint 5) Smoothed the surface with a coat of clear wax in circular motions. After the clear wax dried, add a small coat of brown antique wax. Remember to add the antique wax in small sections and wipe off immediately or it will stain the surface of the wood too dark.
Our finished product looks perfect in our farmhouse living room! Before you say anything, the shelf will definitely be moved to be more aligned with the church pew.
