How to Make a Chopstick Pendant Lamp Shade

I have no overhead lights in our living and dining area one of the downfalls of a 100 year old house. I have made several hanging lights for other parts of the house and this is one of them! icon

A bunch of chopsticks!

An old lampshade frame!

A cardboard tape roll and hot glue!

I put 4 sticks together and hot glued them to the cardboard and the bottom of the metal frame. The top part is smaller than the bottom part so I knew there would be gaps on the bottom.

I have a plan to cover that up! icon

Now to paint then add the hanging light!

I used a metallic gold spray paint! I sprayed the outside and inside too! Zig zag trim in copper will cover the top and bottom! This covered up the glue, cardboard and metal that was showing. icon

I also used a bulb that doesn't get hot so the glue won't melt! Finished, hanging and put out some much needed light!!

A friend was over yesterday dropping off a generator (will be using that in the aftermath of hurricane Florence) and asked if I got that light at Pier 1 or World Bazaar! What a great compliment!! I told him I made it with chopsticks and now he is collecting chopsticks for me to make a really big shade for a Christmas present! icon

  Thank you so much Thea! I'm finishing some floor lamps I made with large spools and handmade lampshades. They will each have a unique look/style; industrial, romantic/glam and country cute! I might post them soon or the jewelry I made with a bunch of clothespin springs I had leftover from some other things I made. Waste not want not, right! Oh, I meant to show you the new hanging light I finished yesterday! It replaces the chopstick one that is going in the kitchen with a repaint of white and black! The new one has a calming relaxing glow! I made it with vintage fabric, wood beads, brown cord and burlap trim ! Total upcycle!
