Is Halloween a big thing for you? I would love to create a truly spooky scene in our garden but when there are little people living in your street it's probably not a good idea. I would hate to be the cause of them having nightmares. So we usually decorate on a small scale. This year we created a this little Halloween love story..........
....... that involves a clock, two skeletons and a ghost in the mirror.
If you'd like to make something similar it's real easy to do. For the ghost in the mirror all you need is a creepy skull image, mod Podge, mirror paint, black spray paint and a printer. It doesn’t matter whether you use an ink jet or a laser printer, they’ll both work. You'll also need a piece of glass. We used the glass from an old clock. I have this thing for large clocks and love creating fairy gardens inside them. Start by giving the glass a good wipe to get rid of any dust and finger prints.
Print and cut your creepy ghost image so it's a little smaller than your piece of glass.
Apply a layer of mod podge onto the glass where you want to add the ghostly print. Apply another thin layer of mod podge on the image. Try not to cover the whole image if you want a more dramatic look.
While the mod podge is still wet place the image face down on the glass and use a credit card or brayer to get rid of any air bubbles.
Gently pull or peel the image from the glass while the mod podge is still wet.
Wait a few minutes for the image to dry completely, before spritzing some water on and spraying with mirror paint. The water repels the paint and creates a beautiful vintage effect when it dries
To finish off spray the back of the ghostly mirror with black spray paint. We placed our ghostly mirror behind a loving skeleton couple. It looks like he's stalking them
But I'm not too worried. That gentleman skellie in the top hat looks like he'll protect the love of his life from anything, including that creepy guy in the background What do you think?
P.S. We've shared a full tutorial on how to make the the skeleton couple and staged them in the clock on the blog. Why not come say hi and see how we did it. It's real easy to do too.
