Rustic Holiday Decor
The Holiday decorating season is approaching rapidly and here at Gilbert Marketplace, we are so excited! Today I'll be using some scrap wood I have around to make these beautiful snowmen. Think: recycled wood, and farmhouse style holiday decor. It's my favorite and I'm sharing lots of projects this month- if you're feeling crafty and want to make some gifts follow me!
Lets get started! You'll be using three wood pieces to create your snowman. This is how you'll be laying out the wood pieces after you paint them.
The first thing you need to do is to paint the wood that you'll use for the top hat black! (I used the pieces that I cut at 3" and the 5x5 square)
Let those dry, and then paint the larger block that you'll use for the face white. I made three different sized snowmen- 4x4 post I cut at 3.5" 4.5" and 5.5" After the paint dried I nailed the 5x5" black square on top the 4x4 post then I nailed the 2x3 block to that.
Now that you have your hat made, time to add a bit of decor! I added this sweet holiday pick.
I cut the wood dowel to make my nose and painted orange and glue to the middle.
Then using a paint brush and some black paint, I made eyes in an oval shape and added a white dot! A small thin line for eyebrows and a line for the mouth- hint: I cheated and used a thin sharpie.
And that's all folks! It was pretty simple and fun to make, now make one yourself!
To add a bit more holiday magic to my snowman, I applied a little glue to the hat top and poured on the fake snow..
And its just keeps getting cuter!
Lastly I cut my plaid fabric into 1" strips and used this to tie around the bottom, making a sweet little scarf!
And my snowman are complete! I had some candle sticks which I set them on to make some fun heights for my holiday decor. Or you can dress up a table or buffet for the holidays with these wood snowman!

Truly delightful. Mounting them on the candle sticks pushed them over the top.
