How to Color Tone a Christmas Tree With Spray Paint and Ornaments
Have you ever wanted to make a theme tree with great color and special ornaments? Here's how we made our blue cookie cutter tree from scratch.
We've just started to decorate our blue painted tree with vintage cookie cutters and blue and silver ornaments. Blue trees are one of my favorites, but there are so many colors to choose from when you start with spray paint.
The tree started out as such a sad sight … a stained, white faux-tree. The first thing we did was strip off the old lights. That was the most time-consuming part of this project. Next, we sprayed the whole tree with Rustoleum paint in an aqua blue.
The spray paint took just a few hours to dry. You need not cover every needle of the tree when changing its color. Patchy color and a thin coat of paint may also give a good effect.
Just a little faux-snow on the tip of each branch made this tree look both colorful and more natural.
Adding white lights, vintage cookie cutters, and blue ornaments came next.
Just think of the possibilities when you consider the many colors of spray paint available and using matching or contrasting ornaments.
