All is Calm All is Bright Christmas Sign

Its funny where inspiration comes from. One morning I was enjoying my first cup of morning brew looking at the new fox picture I adore. The picture comes in one size that is too small to fill the alcove over the fireplace. Daydreaming about how to fix the mantel I thought that fox looks so calm in that oh so bright snow. Problem solved, I made an additional small Calm and Bright sign to go above the little piece of artwork.

Every year I decorate our entire home based on a different theme. You can check out my other DIY Christmas ideas here.

To make your own sign cut a piece of 1 by 6 inch lumber 48" long. Scrap wood is fine.

Sand your wood well and then paint.

Dry brush the surface of the wood with white paint, allowing some of the bare wood to show through. This will make your wood look worn.

Create the lettering using the computer and print out. The link to the template I created is on the blog.

To transfer the letters, lay the good side of the template up to a window and using soft charcoal trace the back of the lettering.

Place the template onto the wood and rub the lettering with your finger to transfer the lettering.

Trace the outside of the lettering with a Sharpie paint pen. I used a silver coloured pen for the all is wording and a dark grey pen for Calm and Bright.

This sign is one of many I created for my All is Calm All is Bright Christmas decor theme. Lots of other easy sign and tutorials on the blog..

For a Christmas theme I made two signs and placed one in the living room and this second one in the family room.

I would love you to pop by my blog Faeries and Fauna for the full tutorial as well as sign up for my latest crafts, DIY projects, home decor ideas, and recipes.

Hope you like them. Merry Christmas
