Log Reindeer
My log reindeer project was inspired by one my mom made many years ago for her home. It’s a simple woodworking project that only requires two cuts of your saw. This log reindeer is perfect to display in your home or on your front porch during the holidays and you can keep him up all year long by changing up the accessories on his antlers each season. Use these wooden log reindeer plans to make your own festive holiday wall decor.
To make this log reindeer you will need to cut one piece of wood in two places with a 45 degree angle cut. This can be done easily with a miter saw. The two pieces are then rotated and glued back together so that it makes the head and neck of the reindeer.
Flip the wood so that the sides are back together and glue them. Depending on how dry your wood is you may need to wait to glue it together. I waited a week for the wood to dry out. Alternately you can make sure the wood you are working with is dry to begin.
Using glue or construction adhesive that will work on glue (it should say on the packaging if the glue is compatible with wood) glue the two pieces together and leave it for 24 hours
Decide where you want the eyes and drill holes small enough that the base of the button can be glued into the holes.
Tap two finishing nails into the side of his head to use as a base for the ears.
Add a little glue to the antler branches and stick them into the antler holes
Cut two pieces or brown fabric in 4 inch circles. Fold the circle in half and glue it around each of the nails to make ears.
Glue on the button eyes.
If you want to make the log reindeer Rudolph you can add a red nose. A small red ornament works great for this, simply glue it on with a hot glue gun.

This is absolutely adorable! I'm not a fan of holiday decorations in general but this is definitely something I'd do. Nice work!
