Got Old Drawers? Then Maybe You Want to Make Them Into....

My city has a spring clean up every year and it is one of my favorite things! People put out the most amazing things in the garbage and it is like a treasure hunt every spring. This year I spotted a beyond repair hutch, but the drawers were in great shape and already painted a fun color. I quickly snatched them up and eventually I was inspired to make them into some fun porch planters. They have been bringing a smile to my face all summer and add a perfect garden touch to my front door! I love it!
Drawers I picked up for free, and some dollar spindles I got at the Restore.
Using pocket holes and scrap wood I built a frame with the spindles.
Added some slats for a bottom shelf.

Drilled holes for drainage and spray painted them green. I also added a liner with drainage holes before I put in the dirt.

I planted flowers and put them on my front porch. Totally bringing a smile to my face every time I come home!

What kind of liner did you use? This is a wonderful idea by the way.

I live in southwest Florida with a lot of heat and humidity . How do you preserve the wood especially during the rain season?
