How can I update my stone fireplace without having to remove the stones? I think I saw a project about this a while back.

I currently have stinky dirty carpeting in my living room and I want to replace it with a durable flooring that can stand up to dogs and kids.
Does having a paint over a popcorn ceiling change how I'd remove the popcorn ceiling?
I want to spruce up my walls with peel-and-stick wallpaper. Has anyone used this before and can advise me as to how to apply it properly?
I've heard staining is a good technique for updating floors. So how do I stain my wood floor?
We replaced our old marble mantel & now I would like to repurpose it. The piece measures 8" x 1 1/4" x 6'. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The stones are beautiful. I wouldn’t cover them up. If it was mine I would add a beautiful thick old barn beam for a mantle. Then add beautiful decor that enhances the rustic farm house look that’s trending right now.
Repaint the mantel, change out decore.
My vote is with Kelly. I love it and think they are beautiful. I would give them a good wash to freshen them up and would consider a live edge mantle too. I hope you use it! I love having a fireplace. Where I live it is more for ambience, but it can heat up the whole house if need be if the power goes out.
It's beautiful just clean the stones really well and oil the mantle with tung oil don't you dare paint any of it
The stone is beautiful! I agree with the 2 answers above.
Love the stone?.....Leave it. Just clean it up like everyone suggests. A chunkier mantle shelf would look better. Don't like the stone?..... Paint it to brighten the fireplace and room.

Google antique woodworks. I found this stone and wood fireplace . I love this mantle with the hint on metal on it. Change your decor some. Dont paint the stones! I would love to have your fireplace! We have a brick one and it's pretty but stone is the most beautiful!
I have a stone fireplace that I hated. The stones were almost black, blue and maroon and did not go with my white beachy decor. I whitewashed the fireplace and it is by far one of the best things in my house now.
This was the only picture I could get to upload, but it shows the before and after. 5 years later and I am very happy with it.
Clean the stones well and then decide whether to whitewash, paint, etc. I agree the mantle seems a bit out of proportion and could be beefed up! Simply changing the decor to lighter and brigther accessories could make a big difference ini the feel of the room. Maybe some more whimisical items to lighten the mood?
If these are real stones , I would just clean and seal. The mantle needs to be substantial , like a beam, railroad tie, a thick live edge wood. Then lighten up the decor. I would use a different door too
Stone is beautiful .. I would update mantel and surrounds
