Steamer Trunk Coffee Table

Took this ten dollar find and repurposed it for a handy coffee table for my gazebo. All it took was a good sanding to reveal the handsome wood strapping. I also brightened the dull paint of the box by sanding and painting over with a matching acrylic paint coat of brown for the sides and black for the top. A little orange oil revitalized the leather straps and the wooden trim!

Dylanthomasp on Jun 10, 2015Lucky you, I can't find one for less than $50 and in worse condition than yours.

Jo-Ann Fleishman on Jun 19, 2015This project was more for interior use. I painted the steamer trunk on my deck and staged it there. Eventually, I placed this in the guest bedroom as a table tray by the love seat for morning coffee and reading material.
