Expanding racks don't have to look cheap... With a few craft boards and pretty drawer knobs, this easy to make expanding rack would look great in any room! It is perfect for jewelry, pet accessories, aprons or like back in the day, mugs!

The expanding rack can be completed in a few hours. The knobs can be round or oblong - whatever you choose!

The boards are pre-finished prior to assembly including a sealer, if desired. I used a clear sealer and nothing else - I wanted the pretty oak grain to show through!

Once the holes are drilled in the boards (see the blog post at the link below!), the machine screws are threaded through the holes into the drawer knobs. They just have to be snug but not tight which allows for the expanding movement.

I used 1/4" x 1" oak craft boards found in most home improvement stores (or online) but yardsticks can also be used. I used soda can tabs as hangers on the back, threading the screw through the tab before threading it through the holes in the boards.
