I researched the history of floorcloths in America. I decided to experiment with an upholstery fabric remnant. I used all water based products. I will post more about my process later. I am making these for my own home to see how I like them and how they wear. I will post more about my process later. This was an experiment and I love how it turned out. The remnant was $6. for 2 yards of 60" wide fabric. It is as heavy as canvas #8 but the weave is not as tight. I did a lot of research for the water based products to use. I wanted to be able to buy basic ingredients to make my own sealer, glazes, colors, and finishes. The finished product feels great, is pliable yet water resistant. I will be able to wipe with damp mop or even scrub with floor brush. Update: 7-21-18 - I am very pleased with how well these floorcloths have held up, they are still like when I first made them! I been going to make more but haven't had the time. It is a drawn out process that takes many days of waiting between coats depending on weather.
