Cheap DIY Snowy String Lights

If you need some snowy magic in your home this holiday season, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve created these awesome DIY snowy string lights for a bit of a rustic wintery feel for your home.

To make this super simple project even better, it takes less than 10-minutes to make and everything you need can be found at the dollar store!

To get the “snowy” look, you will need white craft paint and salt! You can use glitter if you prefer, but I think the salt looks more like real snow!

All of the supplies can be found at Dollar Tree, which is awesome for this budget holiday decor.

Start by creating a workspace that you don’t mind getting a bit messy, I used an old baking sheet to keep the salt crystals contained.

You can use a paintbrush or cotton swabs to brush the white paint on the rattan balls. Roll immediately in salt and let dry.

Once the snowy balls are dry (about 10 minutes) push the string lights through space in the rattan balls. Make sure it’s tight enough that the lights and the balls stay connected.

And you’re done! It’s so quick, simple, and adds the perfect snowy touch to your holiday decor.

Did you get the balls at Dollar tree? Do they stay attached to light strand tightly or do you use an adhesive of some type?

Yes, the balls are at dollar tree! You can kind of just wiggle the lights in a tighter spot of the rattan to make sure they stay snug.
