I think the stone is beautiful! It’s my understanding that the stone is easy to install, and the final decision between that and paint would be budget... Good luck with your project!
Both are beautiful, the pro of the paint is that it is easier to keep clean, the brick seems to draw dust and is more effort to clean.

Stone no comparision to paint. So stone over paint anytime . I dont care if it was old bricks from a 1920s building. It's just beautiful
