Today’s DIY is all about adding a sweet addition to your decor. In a little over an hour, and for about $10 you can create a very sweet, simple, and pretty DIY Candy Wreath.
Today’s post is a very nostalgic DIY for me. Much like the DIY Peppermint Candy Christmas Tree from last year, today’s DIY Candy Wreath reminds me of crafting with my mother at Christmas time. She was and still is an avid creator. Her skills expand further than mine, but she was and still is my main source of inspiration. Every Christmas we would make (and eat) these candy wreaths.
To make your candy wreath, you will need:
- (affiliate link) 14 Inch Wire Wreath Form
- Hot Glue Gun with Hot Glue Sticks
- Assorted Hard Candy (Individually Wrapped)
- 1.5 Inch White Ribbon. 25 inches of ribbon to cover the wreath form and for the bow.
Step 1: Hot glue and wrap your ribbon around the wreath to add a base layer of white`for the candy to attach to.
Hot glue the ribbon to the wreath every third time you wrap the ribbon around the wreath.
Finish off the ribbon at the back of the wreath by securing it with hot glue.
Step 2: Use the ribbon to create a loop, and hot glue to the back of the wreath for the wreath hanger.
Step 3: On the lowest heat setting, hot glue the hard candy to the front of the wreath.
Continue to add candy around the wreath. Ensure that your colors are mixed evenly to create beautiful dimension.
Step 4: Once you hot glue the entire front side of the wreath, then create a bow with the same ribbon. Hot glue the bow to the bottom of the wreath (remember where you put the loop wreath hanger at the back so you can reference where the bottom of the wreath is).
My children love looking at it as they pass through their bathroom throughout the day!
I hope you enjoy making this simple, candy wreath as much as I did. Happy crafting!
