Mon cher! ya'll just need to get with Carnival - the season begins January 6th, Epiphany, when the 3 kings reached the manger! You eat your first king cake that day - purple, green & gold icing! - & have all your Christmas decor put away (or it's bad luck all year, Grandma said so) Then, you decorate for Carnival, starting January 6, & that stays up until its final day, Mardi Gras! purple, green & gold lights, masks, flags, beads, bunting - this year Mardi Gras is Feb 21, so you have to work Valentine's decor in with it - but it comes down that midnite, so nothing is decorated come light on Ash Wednesday ( you know what Grandma would say...) Solves the blues that come with having to un-decorate from Christmas! (And after Mardi Gras, there's Easter, St. Patrick's Day & St. Joseph's Day parades, Jazz Fest....)
