Embroidered Bird Valentine Decoration

If you could send a sweet message to a loved one, what would it say? You have lots of time to think about it while you make one of these sweet little embroidered bird Valentine decorations. I made this for my husband, and will probably put it in his car or hang it somewhere he'll find it on Valentine's Day. You can make one and have it hanging around just because it's such a sweet and darling little bird.
Start by downloading and printing the free bird printable on my site.
Cut around the bird and place onto your felt. You'll need two pieces of felt for each bird. Starting under the bird, start stitching along the bird outline.
When the bird is completely outlined, gently remove the paper. Tear small areas of paper away being careful not to pull out the stitching. I didn't know what I was going to make with this bird when I started this project, so I stitched on one piece of felt to start with.
I decided to turn it into a hanging ornament, so added a piece of felt to the back and stitched both pieces together. I stuffed the bird with polyfill before closing completely.
When the bird was stitched close, I carefully cut the extra felt from around the bird.
I added a piece of embroidery floss to the top for hanging and a piece to the beak. Write a message, roll it up and tie to the bird.
I love how this little bird turned out and think it's just a sweet way to send a message or have hanging around your home!
