Thrift store shopping and church sales are so fun for me because I love seeing what other people get rid of. I like to challenge myself to see how I can makeover some of these thrifted finds. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, after all!I found this really tall picture frame at a church sale a while back for $1. Of course, I had to bring it home! It was only a dollar after all.The picture frame was just a plain wood frame, so I gave it a coat of white paint. (Sorry I didn’t take a picture of that part.) Then I decided to decorate it for Valentine’s day.Let me show you how I made this really cute Valentine’s love sign with the thrifted picture frame and some Dollar Tree supplies.
For this project you're going to need:
  • a rectangular picture frame
  • 6 Dollar Tree roses from 1 bunch
  • Jute twine
  • Foil letters - I found these at Dollar Tree in the school section
  • Tiny clothespins (Dollar Tree has these, too)
  • Hot glue gun

Since my thrifted picture frame was plain wood, I decided to spray paint it white. After spray painting the frame, I added jute string to the middle of my frame for hanging my letters. I put the string closer to the top of the frame so the letters would hang in the middle.

Pop the flowers off of their stems. When you do this, little pieces will still be sticking out, so just cut those off with your scissors. You want your flowers to be somewhat flat so they will stick to the frame.

Glue the leaves back onto two of the roses. These are the roses you'll use for the center of your frame edges.

Glue the roses to the edge of the picture frame using the hot glue. I placed one flower in center of the edge (the one with the leaves) and then two flowers along the sides.

From the leftover leaf bunches, cut off four leaves and glue them to the back of the roses that are along the sides of the frame. This adds more greenery to your Valentine's Love Sign.

Hang the foil letters onto the jute twine using the tiny clothespins. I didn't measure this out. I just eyeballed it.

That's it! You're all done with your Valentine's love sign!To see more ways I displayed my sign, be sure to check out my blog! Also be sure to check out my other Valentine's DIY's while you're there. Every Wednesday is DIY day!
