Creating a Fort With Curtains on Bunk Beds
My son was ecstatic when we surprised him with bunk beds for this Birthday…he was even more excited when I asked him if he wanted the lower bunk turned into a fort with curtains he could open and close!
I had him pick out a fabric, of course he picked Star Wars and I measured across the bunk bed and the height to where I wanted the curtains to hang down to.
I chose to have them hang down past the mattress, that way if the bed wasn't made it would hide it!
I ended up ordering 4 yards of fabric and that was plenty.
I cut the fabric into 4 panels and then just hemmed each side. I used a 1/2 inch hem.
If you don't have a sewing machine, you could easily do this with bonding tape that you just iron on.
I ordered two tension rods, the size I needed and put them up under the lip of the top bunk.
I also purchased ring clips to attach the fabric to the tension rods.
That was it! It literally only took me an hour and my son LOVES it.
It creates such fun space for him to hang out in and read.

Reminds me of my bunk curtains on my rack on the ship! Kept light out when you were a daysleeper.

Cute idea but why would you leave raw edges where you sewed the sides? Should have turned twice. so
