Faux Mercury Glass Vases
Begin with a clean surface. Spray inside your vase with Krylon's Looking Glass spray paint. Make a solution with a mixture of equal parts of vinegar and water. Swirl the liquid around on the inside and begin dabbing it back up using paper towels. Allow it to dry completely and repeat above steps if you want more.

Hi ! This is an easy and fun project ! Besides the item you want to give the mercury glass look to , you will need : a small spray bottle , water , white vinegar , paper towels , * optional drop cloth to work on .mirror spray paint , and bronze or black spray paint . As for the spray paint , I used rustoleum hammered bronze and krylon looking glass paint . Ok , there are a few ways you can do this , and this might be a little different in the method , but I found this gave me the best look of an old mercury glass object !
first , put a half cup of water & white vinegar in the spray bottle . Shake to mix .
I did this project outside !!!!
Place your vase / bottle on the ground , on the drop cloth to
Work fairly quickly ...
lightly spray the vase with the water mixture , this should not be even coverage !! I
Then a very light coat of the mirror spray paint OVER the water , then take a scrunched up paper towel and blot the vase here and there ... It doesn't look like much at this point ! , don't worry ... let it dry , it dries fast , in a few minutes .Repeat this 2-3 more times...water , then mirror paint , then blot with paper towel .
Now , stand back from the vase and using the bronze paint , just give it a light must
here and there ! All done !!! You might want to practice on a glass jar in your recycling bin , to get the feel for it , before doing it to your vase !

I just explained how I made my vase.. Here are pictures of a dollar store bottle and an old window that I turned into a mirror. Note * I watched tons of YouTube videos before I tried and I described the method I liked best for an old vintage look. Most videos showed that most people do the spray paint first and water second. I liked it better reversed ....
